They always trim those obits down as it is–I could probably come up with two dozen additional names for inclusion more deserving than her. Also, what movie did the clip come from that showed people driving down a road in a vehicle, and there were people outside the car running at it, and the camera did a rotation around the interior of the car, showing the passengers but also the people outside (guerilas? angry mob?). I was only half paying attention, but I was pretty stunned; I can’t think of when I’d seen a shot like it before. ---

Did my ears trick me or did Nicole Kidman flub a line a little. Wasn’t sure if it was her Aussie accent but I thought I heard a trip - maybe it was on the word “girls”? Just hoping to knock Ms. Perfect down a notch. (I know I’m a very, very small person ☹ ) ---

[/QUOTE] Trust me, the few seconds you saw only scratches the surface of how amazing that shot in–probably 5 or 6 minutes long, going inside and outside the car, covering at least a mile of highway, with multiple vehicles, pyrotechnics, and some incredibly acting, all in 1 uninterrupted take (one of several similar long uninterrupted takes in the film). Lubezki was robbed. ☹ ---

unfortunately, I haven’t been able to read this thread yet - also unfortunately, I saw the show last night. Obviously, I don’t know the consensus, but I think it was the dullest show ever. The only point of excitement was watching to see if Jennifer Hudson chest was going to fall out of her dress during the song she did. I really, really preferred Jon Stewart as host. ---

The “In Memoriam” montage does not cover precisely the previous calendar year. It includes from the point that the previous year’s montage left off to just a little bit before Oscar night. I can’t find anywhere where it says this, but note for instance that Carlo Ponti died earlier this year and was included in this year’s montage. Anna Nicole Smith is not _remotely_ important enough to the film industry to be included in the montage. The qualification is not fame. It’s importance to the film industry. Many of the people included in the montage will be, for instance, important film editors that the average person will never have heard of. Every year the people who create the “In Memoriam” montage will have to leave out some film people who aren’t quite important enough to fit into the (relatively) small amount of time allotted for the montage. ---
