About an hour ago. Tsunami warning for West Coast of South America. USGS is not sure if Tsunami was generated, but I would guess there is a pretty good chance. Look out West Coasters and Hawaiians. Edit…now revised to an 8.2 Magnitude ---

I think there are Dopers in the Tsunami warning/watch zones. Hope everyone is inland/elevated, and stays safe. Updated…most of the watch areas are cancelled. A TSUNAMI WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR CHILE / PERU WARNING AND WATCH FOR ALL PREVIOUSLY NAMED AREAS ARE CANCELLED Existing warning is calling for a few feet (up to 7ish) of water. With a little force behind it, that can be pretty dangerous. ---

In the link above, the person reporting is actually in Rio and the anchor mentions that but a few moments later, he is warning her to be careful and stay safe. Oops. ---
