[$80,000 Television](http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14602796/) from Panasonic, 103 inch plasma HD. Installation costs extra.

OK guys, line forms to left, have your checkbooks ready.

The other good news, for those of you who are looking for a smaller set, is that they are also predicting that in 2007, due to over production and cheaper manufacturing methods, most flat screen televisions will be up to 20% cheaper - so if you can wait until after Christmas, looks like there actually will be some good deals out there.

I understand it comes with its own overpriced concession stand and an option to rent a ticket taker.

Ok, so a bit of number crunching indicates that this thing would be roughly 7.5 feet wide and 4 feet tall.

Reaction #1: Droool!!!
Reaction #2: I think with some re-arranging I could fit it in my living room.
Reaction #3: If you watch LOTR on this thing, a full-body shot of any of the hobbits would be pretty darn close to “life” size.

Oh, and a quick google came across a story with more details (and pictures) [here](http://www.engadget.com/2006/01/09/panasonics-103-incher-up-close-and-personal/)

Pffft. Next year you will be able to walk into stores and buy the same one for like $23,000.

I saw that at the SID 2006 (soceity for information display) conference in July. It looked really good.

Samsung showed a 100+ inch LCD screen. It was not ready for prime time

You know, you really should go ahead and get the service contract. It extends the original manufacturer’s warranty for four more years for only $69.99.

Thanks!

I want one.

I wonder how heavy it is, and how much electricity it draws, and how much heat it puts out. I may have to get a Mr. Fusion Home Energy Unit to power the thing…

Pfft, you don’t already have one!
I’m gonna get that one to put in my closet. I just _hate_ missing a commercial or two when I have to get something out of the closet.

I was there too. In fact I do some consulting on the side for one of the other exhibitors and spent nearly three straight days in one of the booths next to Samsung’s. The 85" LCD looked pretty good though.

With a front projector one could get 103 in[sup]2[/sup] for about $2000
