Most likely they recorded Seth voicing all the nominees, and animated all of them so the director could just use the winning take at that moment. ---

I’ve seen real-time rendering before, but there seemed too much nuance and perhaps not motion-picture quality rendering, but certainly seemed of high enough quality (GI, Hair, Area Shadows, etc…) that if it was performed real-time, I’d be mega-impressed. Even Mark Wahlberg looked real (kidding!) ---
