I’m still pissed off at my school for the way they handled the whole thing.

9:30 - Principal announces what has happened, makes vague statements and hints the White House has been hit.

9:45 - Principal FORBIDS classes to talk about it and mandate “business as usual”

Sure, I was in 8th grade at the time, but does that automatically take away my right to learn about WORLD-CHANGING events???

The rest of the day was fueled by wild speculation and rumors until I finally made it home to a TV.

BTW, why is this in the pit?

Ah, man. You’d think I would know better than to look at things like that by now. I should be going to bed or studying for science, but now I’m sitting next to the computer crying. I, like Lando Griffin, was only in the 8th grade when it happened, but we had the television and computers going all day and it was not business as usual. As I recall I wasn’t as affected, emotionally, by it then as I am now. Strange how that works.

Thank you for the link. The thread is terrible to read, but it brings back to mind many of my own experiences.

I spent a lot of time during the first few hours on a MUD. We had about 75 players online and had a broad geographical distribution. People were relaying news from many different news sources around the globe.

Most memorably, one of the players logged on, very shaken. They were alone and needed someone to talk to; this player was employed at the time in the Pentagon – in the area that was hit by the plane. He was late to work and wasn’t in the building at the time. What a feeling that had to have been.

I think this came out long before the conclution about O.B.L. being the one who ordered the attack. It is showing a patritic view, not a G.W.Bush view. It so happens that Bush took this view also, which is what I think you are complaining about.

The sign saying NYC closed to all traffic, was part of a system that alreats drivers of such things as accidents, gridlock, and for that matter confirms the suspision that the police are the ones who enfore the seatbelt law (as opposed to the sanatation department I guess). They are programed on the fly for current happenings. Durng the 2nd hit on the WTC, well shortly after, all roads/tunnels into/out Manhattan, were closed. The sign having also so many characters was most likely shortered to NYC.

I did not realize that the NYFD had a code (10-13) which apparently means a 2nd tower down).

Also one of the signs that to me is very curious is the one that has been mentioned, the one saying ‘why’, the answer seems so obvious to me, they hate us, they are at war with us, they are willing to die for their cause.

Odd that I’d find this thread today.

I just sent my husband off this morning for an 18-month deployment in Afghanistan to kick some collective terrorist ass.

I’m extremely sad for my own loss and loneliness but it doesn’t hold a candle to the loss the families of those who died that day.
