I’ll be taking my mom to the airport. She’s coming out for a week long visit and leaving that day. Then I’m going to have a beer or two or several to unwind from her visit. She got a very good deal by flying out that day. ---

Sept 11, 2002, is going to be the worst day of television programming ever. Wall-to-wall sentimental glurge. I plan on doing nothing special or out of the ordinary. ---

Every news story that has anything to do with security or death or world affairs, and usally other things, has the phrase 9/11 in it, mentioning the terror attacks. Did I miss something here? Are people truely so forgetful that if they don’t mention 9/11 in relation to any issue during each day, we will somehow forget what happened that day? Is there anyone who isn’t aware of what happened that day? I’m just gonna say it. It will sound mean and heartless but this is how I really feel. I was shocked on Sept. 11, I was sad on Sept. 12, I was burnt out on it on Sept. 13 and have been sick of it it being mentioned all the time since then. I didn’t watch the special 9/11 tribute with all the singing and celebrities, I still don’t regret it. If we invade iraq, wake me up. If they rebuild the towers, wake me up. If another attack comes, wake me up. When the next election comes around, wake me up and I’ll vote. Until then, I don’t care anymore. ---

Actually, I had considered getting married, but that depends alot on how details can be worked out. Other than that, I don’t plan on having the TV on any more than other days, which is at most, an hour or two. CDs and reading sound good. ---

I may call my flight school & see if I can get some solo time in that day. It seems oddly appropriate. I only have a few weeks to practice before the checkride. If I can’t, it’ll probably be a video-renting or movie-going-to day. I agree with **Elwood** and **HPL** , no reason to turn on the TV that day. ---

I have to pass the WTC site every day, and make my way past buildings with new concrete barriers in front of them, and show _two_ ID cards to get into my office building. So I certainly don’t need any “reminding.” I plan to not read the papers or watch TV that day at all, if I can help it. ---

Every time I see an article of clothing with red, white, and blue stuff, I can’t help but consider it cynical marketing. All the vengeance-spouting bumper stickers sicken me. The very word “Evil” has become silly and meaningless, thanks to W. That Wednesday will be another work day. I rarely watch TV anyway, and I’ll turn off my radio if it becomes a tear-fest. I’m planning to avoid all television on 9/11. I don’t need to be reminded: I haven’t forgotten, and I’m sure that I never will. I don’t need to keep my wound raw: I’m a Christian, and keeping wounds raw is certainly _not_ a reaction that Christ would approve of. I’m going to surf the 'net, and maybe rent a movie. I definitely don’t need to hear GW Bush speak about the subject. He’s a pathetic president, and all this talk about ousting Hussein (which everyone knows is mostly about boosting his approval ratings) has killed any latent respect I might have had for him. ---

I’m going to work, like any other day. I’ll have lunch browse the Straight Dope Message Board, go home, watch some TV, and go to bed. Just like any other day. Of course, I’ll think about what happened, and I’ll be listening to the radio at work so I’ll hear a lot of talk about it, but, unfortunately, that too is like any other day since last 9/11. ---

I plan on just doing what I usually do. I’ll get up, shower, go to work, play around on the web, read a book, make dinner, and go out with some friends. There’s a chance the TV will be on at the bar, but aren’t they always. I’m not actively avoiding TV coverage; I’m just sick to death of it.
