You keep trying to turn this into an argument as to what the government would or would not do, when it is really about what the government can or cannot do. The debate is over when people start bringing magic explosives, disppearing buildings, invisible ninja bomb experts and/or holographic 767s to the table. When you can bring a scenario rooted in reality, we can have an honest debate here.
