I wonder if papers were getting complaints about the fact that Seth was gay, and too many were threatening to pull the strip. Because this just came out of the blue. ---

I’ve been asking about that for months. How ARE Seth and Mark going over in the flyover states? Especially given Mark’s taste for women’s footwear? Loved the fact that Seth is from Waco, Texas (I had a roomie at college from there, and all stereotypes apply). His parents are cool, too. Who’s taking bets that Edda’s moving in with Amos to take advantage of their Hot Physical Passion? And ability to maneuver through the Brahms cello sonatas? ---

Dang. I would hope McEldowney wouldn’t be doing this to avoid flak from a bunch of pissant 'phobes. But then I realize he’s got a family to feed, just like the rest of us. Maybe he’ll change Chickweed Lane into some plain vanilla pap, and bring the current crew over to _Pibgorn_. Or maybe, Edda has some need for drama that can’t be satisfied adequately while she’s in a supportive and stimulating environment. ---

A lot. Geez, I don’t really remember. We had the Baldwin baby grand moved down from the top floor onto the parlor floor\* about seven years ago; I just recall that it took five burly men, at five burly New York men’s salaries for a four-hour job. Them cast iron frames weigh quite a bit. I happen to be reading Thad Carhart’s _The Piano Shop on the Left Bank_ at the moment. When I’ve finished I’ll get back to you about how the fees are like in Paris. - In NYC brownstone parlance, the floor above the garden floor (which lies a few feet below the street). Hmph. We know now that **Seth** can afford an Upper West Side bachelor pad 'cause his father is the Combine King of Waco, Texas. But **Edda’s** a fledgling ballerina with a Mom who milks cows. Where’s SHE going to end up in the NYC real estate market? She’s priced out of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and most of Queens. She’s either gonna be somewhere in the hill country of western Jersey, or riding the Staten Island Ferry to Lincoln Center every morning. Or maybe **Burkhardt** ’ll be her sugar daddy? ---

I hope she is convinced not to move out – the dynamic that Seth brings to the script is far too engaging to lose at this point. The expanded cast, in general has, IMHO, raised the level of the strip (which was, again, IMHO, hard to do). I’m in Kentucky – it doesn’t appear locally – I’d die, without the internet and my access to this and Pibgorn. ---
