I know this is an old post but she had no excuse for accusing you of being a wild animal’s resting place.
Phone case?
These were physical buttons, is there a case for that?
Yes, any case that’s got a rigid cover. Lots of those in the market.
Back in the Jurassic Age I had a laptop for telecommuting a day or two a week. Because this was so long ago, it was dial-up. The techie who set up my laptop mis-keyed the dial-up phone number with the first three numbers of 9,1,1. Heh.
I was trying to figure out why I wasn’t getting connected when the LAPD knocked on my door (and we’re in a gated condo community that apparently they have access to…good to know). The dogs were hysterical, and the police insisted on checking upstairs in our townhouse. My sister was upstairs and still dressing and only had my shouted warning to grab something to put on before they clumped upstairs.
Exciting!
Sorry. Didn’t notice this was a zombie. But my story did fit with the original dates!
Old thread, noted.
I once accidentally called 911. I was trying to turn the volume down on my iPhone in the dark.
I was, unknowingly, holding my phone away from me so instead of repeatedly pressing the volume key I was repeatedly pressing the on/off key.
Maybe it’s a clandestine safety feature. At least that’s what I assumed happened that made the call.
More likely you were holding down the power button while pressing the volume button. That’s what triggers the emergency call, after a certain time:
When allied with the dumb Apple design change to put the power button directly opposite the volume buttons, exactly where you hold the phone to get leverage, it’s not a very sensible feature. So far I’ve only taken about a hundred unintentional screenshots due to this idiocy, rather than calling the police…
