I should have added the /s indicating sarcasm.
Indeed, Chris Rock is not pressing charges. I have always heard Chris is a nice guy in Hollywood(despite this low-blow joke). I think he’ll want to just smooth things over.

Yeah, there may have been a simmering-to-a-boil factor there. Still, to the outside observer the whole reation looked like it came out of nowhere, zero to physical violence in nothing flat.
I do agree that Smith’s speech just got more and more cringe as he kept going on… and on. I’ll grant he was probably trying to meld how he was feeling right then with what he had intended to be his message originally, and could not just pretend nothing happened, but still… projected too self justifying.
The main reason I watched the Oscars was to see “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” performed live, and they fucked it up by changing the lyrics, giving Megan Thee Stallion a rap verse, and turning it into an Oscars commercial. I am highly pissed about that, as someone who’s a huge Encanto fan.
“You should’ve won the Oscar for Ali, because watching that movie, I honestly thought you knew how to throw a punch!”
So it bounced back quite a bit….
Wow, did Jada teach you to hit like that?
I’m sorry that we got caught up in these complications “entanglements”.
Hell, I’m just glad I don’t have all her other boyfriends rushing the stage.
Anyways, good luck on your night tonight I’m sure you’ll beat the others too.
It all writes itself after a while, but you could take it classy or as crass as you want now that you’ve been hit
I wondered about those cuts as well. You may be right that someone in the control room was just nervous. That said, I prefer the ceremonies not be censored at all.
Just watched CODA this evening on AppleTV. Really good moviefilm. The story is relatable and makes you consider how hard it can be for the deaf community to try and live in a hearing world among other themes. Definitely recommend.
Over the past week we watched Dune, CODA, and Licorice Pizza. Not terribly impressed by any of the 3. Enjoyed CODA the most - actually quite enjoyable. But I am surprised the Best Pic went to a simple feel good movie. Seriously - girl gets boy, girl gets into Berklee, AND family business is a success?
But, like I said, at least I enjoyed it.
Dune was pretty - but really dragged. I remember enjoying the first book of the series for the dense cultures/histories created. On screen I just kept thinking, “Who built all this stuff, how and where?” “What was the purpose of all these huge interior spaces?” “These folk can FLY, but choose to fight with SWORDS?” I think I’ve pretty much hit my life’s quota of sci-fi.
Licorice Pizza? WTF? I’ve got NO IDEA what that was supposed to be about, or why that was supposed to be a good film. Started off kinda interesting b/c it was quirky, and an interesting take o the era of my childhood. But quirk alone wasn’t worth 2 more hours. The 4 of us watching were unanimously unimpressed/unentertained.
Given how little I enjoyed “Dog”, I guess the only 2 movies I enjoyed were CODA and DLU. Might get around to watching “Drive” and “WSS.”
But it is an impressive example of “different tastes” that other people enjoyed Licorice Pizza so much.
Just watched WSS. What a bore. No idea why a remake was felt necessary.
