# 99% off! Whew!

Today, I scored a [Safari Royal Typewriter](http://cgi.ebay.com/Royal-Safari-Manual-Typewriter-w-Carrying-Case-Tan_W0QQitemZ7617856776QQcategoryZ67103QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) for a whopping $1 at a garage sale today.
I bought it for nostalgia, but also so that my daugher can putz around on it and practice her alphabet.
There is nothing quite like the click click click of a typewriter keys twacking the paper.
Now, when we lose power, I can still access the internet. At least, that is what I told my kids.

I brought from my praents house our ancient Underwood _manual_ typewriter. I mean thirty years old, or older.
My kids (11 and 8) jumped on it like it was the newest game system.
The numerous family newspapers etc etc that they have churned out is wonderful!
I love typewriters, too!

I’ve had children come into my office, look at my IBM Selectric and ask \* “What is that?” \*
Once I show them how to use it, they love hitting the keys and actually seeing what they type as they are typing it!

My husband put a program on our laptop called Click Keys that makes the keys click like a typewriter and a buch of other sounds. Ah, the nostalgia!
