There is a part of England that rivals Cabot Cove called MidSomer,a rural paradise of thatched cottages, country pubs and charming scenery with a murder rate that would make the police chief of Rio De Janeiro quake in his boots.

Err? Carrey plays a rock star who gets offed in the first few minutes.

And toss out Sam Jackson, he also played a Nazi in _The Spirit_.

A Nazi!

Sam Jackson has already made our list of people who play villains, as he has done several tiems before the Spirit.

I’d point out that **Ben Affleck** is a villain in Mall Rats, by the way. I don’t think Boiler Room can count as a “villain”.

How about Noah Wyle in _Enough_?

That’s what I meant, toss him out list of folks who meet the criteria.

Did Charlie Chaplin ever play a bad guy other than [Adenoid Hynkel](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032553/)? (And he also played a good guy in that movie)

Not a big older movie buff, but has folksy old Burl Ives played a villain in anything but _The Big Country_, where he won an Oscar?

And I think _The Firm_ was most memorable for Tom Cruise being able to punch out The Oatmeal Man, Wilford Brimley.

He’s an escaped convict and murderer in _A Perfect World_, though his character is a bit ambiguous. One of his best roles, by the way. His somewhat constipated acting style works perfectly for the character he plays.

I know. Mr. Brooks is also one of his better performances.

He should really just focus on playing oddball killers.
