Well, a date is just a date. I’d be questioning exactly how the date information is derived and wanting some actual proof that the post existed prior to 9/11. ---

Hmm, if Nostradomis or even this SOLLOG fellow affirmed (or established) their credentials as a prophet by predicting the 911 attack years before they occurred should we take that to mean that: A: In spite of the ample warning and more than adequate ground work laid by the previous administration, Bush Chaney et al could have done nothing to prevent the attacks which were metaphysically pre ordained. or B: The shrub, Ashcroft, Haliburton and the rest of the American oil industry (except Occidental Petroleum with it’s ties to the Gore family) had the shocking lack of foresight (or devious Machiavellian cunning) to let their secret plan to advance the evil neocon agenda slip to a would-be usenet psychic three years before it happens. Nah, it can’t be B,… unless they want us to think it’s A. Wheels within wheels. Wheels within wheels. ---

I think it was accidental. He was right, but it was just a guess. He basically makes LOTS of very vague predictions, often leaving out dates and details. Those times when he gets slightly ballsy and actually comes out with dates and less vague info, he’s usually dead wrong. In reality, on December 16th, the market closed at 10,129.56 and it closed on January 16th at 10,600.51. There were exactly zero days where the market closed at a lower value than on December 16th, and it actually went up gradually the entire time. So, not only did it not “have a great fall”, it didn’t even have a single backstep. In other words, he’s a kook. A very prolific one, but a kook nonetheless. Throw enough shit at the wall, and sooner or later something will stick. ---

To bad he couldn’t use his powers to divine the spelling of guarantee. This is the monkeys and Shakespeare. You get 1,000,000 monkeys typing for 1,000,000 years, and one will write a Shakespeare play. (The rest will write for UPN situation comedies. Heh.) Same thing to have millions of people making millions of vague “predictions,” then eventually one person will make one prediction that is vaguely correct. To say something will happen in DC (where things tend to happen) on a date (no year) is pretty easy. In fact, I predict that on leap day, something interesting will happen in, oh… Massachussets. Maybe not this year, but eventually. Let’s see if it doesn’t. ---

Let’s not forget that the date itself is also a play on the word “emergency.” 911 is an obvious date for nutter like this to predict something. DC is the standard city to predict it. He also doesn’t predict a particular year. I was going to say this is a fluke but it’s not treally even remarkable enough to be called that. I bet SOLLOG is milking this for all he’s worth, though. ---

Everyone has this backwards. The post wasn’t because of 9/11, it was the cause of 9/11. Bin Laden obviously saw this post and wanting to be a good follower of SOLLOG had everything happen on 9/11. ---

Ah, yes, SOLLOG. I remember him from my pre-SDMB days when I frequented the alt.bible type discussions. SOLLOG would regularly make predictions over there. I remember one time in particular when he claimed that he could use his powers to pick a portfolio of stocks that would out perform the DOW and “even Nasdaq”. I pointed out that those were essentially indicators of the market _on average_, and thus by definition any group of stocks picked at random would be expected to out perform them 50% of the time. ---
