A Babylon 5 Geek Question

I remember that but I didn’t interpret it as an absolute. I thought Kosh was presenting G’kar with an opportunity for both sides to save themselves. Oh well, if JMS said so then that’s just the way it is. I must have missed some other stuff. I’m one of the only people I know who thinks Londa saw something when Kosh saved him after he jumped from that sky tram.

Why do you think that he saw something?

In the books detailing Londo’s rule as emperor of Centauri Prime he tells Vir (I think) that he saw a light in the garden, but nothing like what the others saw. If you haven’t read that series, it’s worth checking out.

Wow, I thought he didn’t see anything because the Centauri had like 50 gods and were not influenced by the Vorlons…

Hmm. That’s a strange theory. He looked disappointed when he was listening to the Drazi and the Narn discussing the vision. We all assumed he was disappointed that he didn’t see anything when everyone else did.

Then again, Centari being Centari, (and Londo being Londo,) if he saw the Centari version of an angel, he might have immediately jumped to the conclusion that Sheridan toyed with later: That it was Kosh, and that the Vorlons had tampered with his race for their own ends, as far back as hundreds or thousands of years before.

His expression easily could have been grief over losing a cherished figure from his people’s folklore, as well as disgust over having been manipulated.

Also, he would have lied to the two others (one of whom was Narn,) to cover the embarrassing truth.

Hmm.

Even if Londo had seen an angel, I don’t think he would’ve had enough information to make that conclusion. Remember, Sheridan had been training with Kosh for about six months by then, and had already been told that Kosh would be recognized by everyone. Londo didn’t know any of that.

yes but wouldn’t he have put two and two together|?

Why would he have? He knew as much about the Vorlons as the Narn and the Drazi at the table next to him, and they sure didn’t make any connection. And it’s not like the shadows were feeding him information about anything.

But as I said before, in the JMS-approved books, he says that he didn’t see an angel. So that pretty much settles it.

Centari are used to deception, manipulation, and chicanery. It’s how they do business.

Londo was probably disappointed he hadn’t thought of doing the angel thing to another race himself.

but the fact that all the races saw Kosh come out of his body suit, I don’t think its too hard to come up with a conclusion. I mean they would want ask themselves why did they see their ‘gods’ come from Kosh encounter suit?

Actually, Delenn and Kosh excused themselves for a sidebar conversation. They had some privacy. Notice the hedges in the garden.

And if he said he didn’t see an angel in the book, then that’s canon. JMS should have left it open for speculation. This is kind of fun.

Actually, he did, though after the show’s first year, it’s hardly ever mentioned.

Aside from the Vorlons (and possibly the Vree), the Centauri were the ones who made first contact with the humans. They gave us jumpgate technology, and due to our similar physical appearance, claimed that our races were long-lost brothers.

This fell apart quickly when we realized how anatomically different we really were (not many humans had six penises, for example), but that’s how it happened. Sure, it wasn’t Londo personally, but he was definitely rising in the ranks by then. I don’t know when this happened, but humankind didn’t join this game until recently; you still meet veterans of the Dilgar war in the B5 timeframe.

Actually, the Centauri contact was about 100 years before Babylon 5. Whether Londo was alive then or not is anyone’s guess–who knows how long the Centauri live?

It wasn’t until the Dilgar war c. 2230 that the humans established themselves as a major galactic power.

I know, m’dear. I want the whole series on DVD.

Speaking of age, how olds delenn? Shes gotta be like 60 right? it says she was born circa 2200???

Delenn is probably about Sheridan’s age. One of the things mentioned at some point in the series is that Minbari live to be about 130-140, and she’s still alive and kicking in 2360 or so, so she can’t be that old.
