Art, and comedy especially, is hard to appreciate outside its cultural context. When Blazing Saddles was produced, it took motion picture comedy in a whole new direction … Some of those themes were never explicitly acknowledged in the media, but Brooks grabbed them and whacked people in the crotch with them. Sometimes literally. 😃 ---

I think I’ve only seen my dad laugh so hard and couldn’t stop twice in my life. Once was to the campfire scene in _Blazing Saddles_ and the other was the dinner table scene in _Nutty Professor_. So I have a fondness for _Blazing Saddlessssssssss_. …sounds like steam escaping! ---
