# A Blood Clot of My Very Own

Here’s my tale of blood clots and pulmonary emboli:  
[I walked out of Return of the King!](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=230162)

I’ve been on warfarin ever since, and probably will be for life. I’m very stable on it, so maintenance is not bad - just a monthly finger stick.

I just went over and read. Yikes! This one:

had me laughing my ass off.

Fingers crossed that they do my INR via finger-poke and don’t have to draw blood–the inside of my left elbow is all oogy from the IV, and the inside of my right elbow is still bruised from the blood they drew there Monday morning before I was discharged.

Sorry to hear you have to deal with this.

Is this what Gregory House had that made him lose some of his thigh muscle? I never saw any of the episodes that described it.

House had an infarction–tissue death caused by a loss of blood supply (which could be caused by a clot). My clot, fortunately, wasn’t there long enough to cause any damage.
