**Silo:** I’ve used my fair share of bongs. While it’s hard to do good science when you’re stoned, the hot water (usually just out of the hot water tap) seemed to work best for me. Different strokes, I guess. **waterj2:** My kids are aware that I smoked marijuana as a young adult. In general, I would avoid mixing alcohol and pot. They have very different effects. If you just want to become unconscious and/or push your body to its limits on general purposes, skip the expensive drugs and just hit yourself in the head with a hammer. If you want to explore and enjoy different mental states, do one drug at a time, in moderation, and use introspection or relevant experiences to enjoy yourself. If you’re using drugs to get away from yourself, I would recommend counselling or the services of a psychologist/psychiatrist. ---

My experiences have been different - putting a couple ice cubes in it has really produced some smooth hits. Never tried the hot water approach. Nor alcohol, though I did know one fellow who regularly used peppermint schnapps, claiming much the same menthol effect as **BluTwylight’s** friend. ---

As a public service announcement, you should all know that THC is insoluble in water, and therefore drinking bongwater will _not_ get you high. THC _is_ soluble in alcohol, so if you use whiskey or vodka (or whatever) in your bong, it will probably contain some THC afterwards. But if you use water you get all the THC when you smoke it and you won’t have to drink the disgusting crap afterwards. ---

GaWd, Point taken. That’s my excuse for losing at Jeopardy (although I can smoke WWTBAM, who can’t for chrissakes). SingleDad, Another good point. Although I would substitue ICE COLD water for the Absolut. Same experience without having to mix substances. And I am finally beginning to understand moderation. Back in '93, the year that I remember very little of, 4 of us consumed 3 lbs. in one month. Think about that kiddies. ---

Mixing reefer with good ol’ ethano is the best way to explore altered mental states, IF you can keep from passing out or throwing up. I highly recommend mixing marijuana with alcohol for the incredible synergestic effect. Always remember what William Blake said: “The road to wisdom runs through the palace of excess.” ---

I mixed alcohol and weed once … literally. About 3/4 oz of crumbled-up Mexican brick in a bottle of 100 proof Absolut vodka. I let it sit for a couple weeks until I had some dark green vodka. It tasted vile, but it did the trick. ---

Neutron, mix weed and some Everclear till you get a good murky green tint, let sit a while, then strain through coffee filters. Let evaporate in a cup/dish-whatever (the alcohol dries fasterwhen spread out over a larger surface area) for a few daze to form greenish sticky goo. Then you can roll your ciggarettes in it, smear it on crappy weed to make better weed…you get the idea. It’s basically a somewhat weak crude form of hash oil. If you have some time try it out. ---

I tried that, too. Well, actually I used rubbing alcohol instead. It turned out pretty good. Not near as good as real hash, though. ---
