We had cameras installed after an arson fire in a supply room and several other lesser incidents. Police investigation was inconclusive, management said it wasn’t who everyone thought it was (a former Employee of the Month, who had fallen out of favor when his boss found out what he had been downloading on the boss’s computer). The guy was fired for “other reasons”, the incidents stopped, management says “we still don’t know who did it”.
One of the cameras points directly at my work area. I’ve considered selling advertising or puting up a “Your message here, call 555-****” sign in view of the camera. 1984 references would be wasted on these idiots, I know, I’ve made them directly to people’s faces.
They recently fired my supervisor after investigating sexual harrassment claims against him. They claimed it was news to them until the complaints were voiced. This guy used to grab, fondle, etc. directly in front of the cameras. Are sure you guys periodically review those tapes like you claim?
A roundly hated lazy co-worker slept in front a camera for nearly two hours a few weeks ago (a regular practice for her). It was witnessed by two supervisors, the entire crew of another department, and a visiting sales guy. When she was supposed to be written up and admonished for it, management said that they could see someone sleeping there, but the cameraview was obscured too much to identify the person. She now sleeps in the breakroom, away from the camera (but often while in the room with the security guard). A supervisor took Polaroids of this several times and notified upper management. She still employed and still sleeping.
