Kitty was OK with it right up til the last second, then was all “How do get out of this chickenshit outfit?” 😃 You could see her starting to panic. At least they had the foresight to put little gloves on her paws, so her owner wouldn’t hit the ground as confetti. ---

I’m suspect this was somewhat cruel to the cat, but it’s funny to watch the progression of the cat in the video from contentedly sitting in the lap to “wait, what now?” to “I _really_ don’t think this is a good idea.” ---

Yikes. My cats would never forgive me if I pulled a stunt like that. I think it’s a bit inaccurate to say that the cat “jumped.” He didn’t have any choice, did he? It looks as if he’s trussed up so that he can barely wiggle. ---

I wouldn’t do that to a pet. Cat was smarter than the guy. Who the hell jumps out of a perfectly good airplane, anyway? ---

[/QUOTE] Standard skydiver answer to this question: “There is no such thing as a perfectly good airplane”. I met one guy at the World Freefall Convention years back who took his dog “Pud” skydiving regularly, the dog loved it. He was certainly not the only owner of a skydiving pooch. There was article in Parachutist magazine years ago about the military K9 guys who jumped with their German Shepherds, complete with photos (dog was in a full body harness - soldier carried him out the tailgate of the plane and lowered the dog on a short strap following canopy deployment, kind of like the gearbag you see on old WW2 airborne soldiers). Anyhow they interviewed one of the soldiers and he said that the dogs were typically scared on the first jump but after that they loved it - his words were something like “If you don’t go out the door as soon as it opens the dog would drag you out”. But that’s dogs. You don’t see a lot of cats sticking their heads out the car window enjoying the breeze. ---

I asked him how he knew when to pull the rip cord. He said the dog is on a very long lead and goes out first. When the lead goes slack, he pulls the rip cord. ---
