You think you’ve got problems? I’ve _never_ started a thread the Mods deemed worthy of closure, which leaves me feeling inadequate. They usually just die after three or four posts anyway. ---

Back when the board was but a wee thing, and still lived on AOL, we successfully did a set of awards, and it was fun. In the very early days of the web board, we again did a fairly successful [set](http://fathom.org/teemingmillions/vote.html) of awards, but it was difficult and it teetered on the edge of civility by the end. Later attempts as the board grew (and there were many, attempted by many people) were flat out hostile and ugly. Trust me and the others who have commented before me… this wasn’t a “second attempt”… the idea has been fully fleshed out in the past and we’ve seen exactly what effect it has on the community. ☹ ---
