So I guess some of you may have seen the headline where a big game hunter shot an elephant which then toppled over onto the hunter killing him? Karma.

We’ve lived in our neighborhood nearly 13 years and this morning, for the first time, I saw a skunk on my way out of the neighborhood, crossing the road. I know there are skunks in our county, and they’re not always successful when they try to cross the roads, but I’d never seen one in our development. Just hope one doesn’t come in our yard when Higgs is out there. That could be, um, unfortunate…
Chance of rain again today, and it’s not supposed to get out of the 60s, but for now, our weekend forecast is really nice, so yay!

Apparently we weren’t the only ones to lose a tree this weekend. I saw two more that fell down when I went to the park yesterday.
Got a story finished yesterday. I might be able to get a second revision at least started today.

Too much work yesterday to MMP. I did a bunch of work at home while completely disheveled! Yay, telecommuting!
Today I have to do the boring follow-up work. Yawn.
Not a fan of circuses.

I saw a circus as a kid. I honestly don’t remember much about it – I do remember the part with the two circular tracks separated by an arm. My family commented that the greatest feat was the women not falling out of thier costumes (I was too young to notice). Clowns do not impress me (though I would not go so far as to say they creep me out).
I am sad mostly due to the Wisconsin connection. At least the Circus World Museaum isn’t closing.

Apropos of nothing much (rather, I don’t feel like using the quote function), every time I see news about PETA doing some demonstrations “naked” there is at least one person who rolls their eyes as hard as they can and says “that’s not naked! They’re wearing more clothing than when they’re at the pool!”
I once heard a woman say “listen, I just can’t take seriously someone who doesn’t know the difference between granny underwear and naked. Do they use the toilet with their panties on, these idiots?” There were nods all around. Always cracks me up to remember it. The people in PETA demonstrations just seem to live in a very different planet from everybody I know personally.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. _YAWN_ 'Tis 73 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 78 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse forecasted. So far we have had a few sprinkles of rain over two days but no big rain. Methinks TWPTB have flubbed again.
I did not make it to Beer and Hymns last night. Instead I sat for ten hours in the ER with JDD’s father who was sent there from the nursin’ home. See, JDD and Partner and JDD’s sister are at the beach this week. So, the nursin’ home sent JDD’s father to the ER for no reason really but I won’t get into that. JDD calls me to ask if I’d go and that turned into an eleven hour ordeal durin’ which I pitched a fit because after five hours he had still not been seen by a doctor and had had one very brief visit from a nurse. I also may end up losin’ friends because I chewed JDD and his sis out for bein’ so irresponsible as to both be gone at the same time when they both know they have frail elderly parents in their nineties in a nursin’ home. I did not mind goin’ to be with Mr. Frank but had this been a real emergency where decisions had to be made, I could not have made those decisions because I am not family. I told the both of them that they have to step up and understand they are the ones with the parents who need to be able to rely on them when critical situations arise which they surely will. Fortunately they dodged a bullet this time. When they are both back in town, I will sit them down for a “Come to Jesus” about bein’ the responsible adult children. Havin’ gone through this myself just recently with my own mom, I believe I can speak with authority. OYKW is pretty pissed with JDD and Sis as well so I got backup and an “Amen corner” for Come to Jesus. 😃
OK, rant over. Thanks for listenin’. Today’s plans are for not much. I will go to the nursin’ home in Dawson this afternoon because I want to make sure Mr. Frank is doin’ OK today. The upshot of last night was that he went back to the nursin’ home via transport at one a.m. this mornin’ and needs to have a follow-up appointment with his own doctor next week. Other than that I don’t think I have brain enough to adult today.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then, I suppose I should make myself presentable.
Oh, HEE! for all the elephant jokes.

Well, **Spidey** , you already tolerate several arachnophobes here, so why not a skunk-hater (actually, **FCM** didn’t say she hated skunks; just the results of encountering one; I’m sure if you volunteered to visit and give Higgs a good washing in case of such an encounter, she would be most understanding)…
Scheduled 4 appointments starting today to get my windows replaced, also getting a second quote on replacing the back and front doors. I have a budget set, we’ll see how well it fits.
Otherwise chillage and houseirk are on the schedule. Oh, and I guess I’ll put on clothes before the estimator shows up…
As for now, Cinnamon raisin toast beckons alluringly…

We had some relatives visiting from Texas ages ago who were fascinated by the armadillos at the local zoo. They had never seen one before -------------- alive. “So that’s what we’ve been driving over all these years!”
Doing my adult responsible things early so I can take a scenic route to work on Bessie.

One of my favorite Pop-Up Videos was for “Rock the Casbah” which was filmed in Austin and featured a live armadillo. One of the pop-ups said that none of the locals in the video knew what the armadillo was because it was moving around and not lying on the side of the road.
