> My ex Mother in law who was in better shape than most 30 year olds would use his sticker so that she could park close to the gym (aerobics three times a week), and the mall and the grocery. She had no problem doing it and was actually proud and would brag to anyone who would listen about how she was “getting over” on people.

My MIL (who died about 2 years ago) had the hang-tag type of thingy. My FIL and SIL still have it, but I would assume it’s expired by now. They still use it, though, when they go out, and at their apartment complex.
They can’t seem to differentiate between “being able to use it” and “needing to use it.”

> Well, to be fair, and I don’t know how they do it in other states, up here they only qualify for a certain portion of their pregnancy. Last month, last 2 months? Something like that, a young preggers friend of mine told me about a year ago, but I honestly don’t remember the time, but I do remember her saying she could barely wait, as she could barely move as it was.

> After all, if you can’t see your feet, an icy parking lot could be pretty hazardous. And for at least this one young lady, she was pregnant in the dead of winter. Pushing a cart across a snow covered parking lot the size of a football field when you can barely reach the handlebar for your huge stomach, I can’t begrudge them a month or two of a little assistance.

Let’s just say the icy surface never even occurred to me, tropical dweller that I am. 🙂 Looking at it this way it makes total sense.

When I look back at my pregnant days I was either completely mobile or (for a short while in the fourth month, in pain due to fibroids) completely housebound, so when I was well enough to go shopping there were no limitations on my mobility.

> I personally am more “don’t get it”, not mad, after all they exist and are obviously here to stay, but kinda “why?” at the parents and children spaces. What, did parents become less capable of getting kids from car to store than we were, our parents, our grandparents? I fail to see how this is in any way ‘disabled’ or even limited mobility tp the point of being awarded special treatment.

The parents and children spaces in British supermarkets at least are not necessarily the nearest to the entrance or exits: the idea is to give them more door opening space between the parked cars. Anyone who has had to contort themselves in a tight space between cars when strapping in a baby or young toddler is grateful for this.

Right-o. Remember to bring a tube of pregnant urine to Bar Louie, and then just hope nobody thinks it’s one of those clever little test-tube shots.

Ahh, well that makes perfect sense then. Yes, of course, what with having to get a childseat (if you have one of those removeable ones) out, and the giant hockey bag (or in my case actual hockey bags) sized diaper bag, purse, toddlers hanging off of your arm. yeah more door opening space makes perfect sense!

Hijack…Man!!! I wish they’d had those when my son was in all the peewee and little league sports, nothing like trying to wrestle a hockey back as big as the kid himself back INTO the car when some big oafs in pickups park two inches from your doors.

With practice three times a week, and this happening at least every two practices? I got to the point where if they were that damn close to my car, the hockey bag went where it went as I was struggling to get into the narrow space between my car and theirs, and if it rubbed up against their precious big block ford? Oh well, too bad, you KNOW that you’re that close to the other car, since it’s pretty obvious by the tiny narrow space between our two cars that you must have had trouble getting out of your vehicle as well.
end hijack

> I could see her being at the mall, but Bar Louie’s not at the mall. It’s at the Waterfront surrounded by other bars and a few shops which are most definitely closed by 10 pm on Friday evening.

Hey, give them a break. They’re drinking for two, you know.
