I think they paid the deposit so far and they had interviewed a bunch of people our HR firm sent over there, so I can’t see how they would get away with not paying. The CPA & HR firms are owned by the same people, so the relationship w/ the CPA firm would deteriorate.

That came through. It would be more expensive for your new employers to not pay the fee.

She also said that at my review at the end of September, they were going to raise my salary about $10K anyway, which is complete bullshit. Why even mention these two things if they aren’t on the table?

They’ve told me I’m their best employee in this department (which is true–everyone else is either new or inexperienced), so I’m surprised they didn’t try to keep me.

What Gfactor said. Average raises being what they are today, if they were planning to give you $10K, they’d have your desk done in gold leaf.

None of the companies I’ve worked for make counter-offers. Studies I’ve seen show that people leave for reasons other than money (and not enough money might be a symptom of management issues) so just giving more money won’t make anyone happy for long. It soundsl like there has been communication, so you’re set. Good luck and enjoy the extra money.

In my experience, it is considered very bad form for a customer or vendor of a company to poach people from that company. If it happens, there are often high level checks before an offer is made, to avoid the very situation you’re now experiencing. Your new employers are very naive at best.

this may be the exact opposite. The high level checking may have already been done, and the crying manager, that wants to save the **bunny ** the decision making trouble, may have been way too low to have heard about it.
Also, the client whatever may have done this jillions of times before, and knew that for the big bucks that they were paying to firm, they could.
