> You are in the UK, I think? Over here, those mother and child spaces have no legal standing, so when I am forced to use one because the handicapped spaces are full, I just glare back.

Yes, I’m in the UK where parent-child spaces have no legal standing but the blue badge disabled spaces are legally enforceable.

My mother doesn’t qualify for a disabled badge and I wouldn’t park in one of those spaces unless it was absolutely necessary. Usually I can find a parent-child space, or at the supermarket she prefers, I can often find somewhere that is either on the end of a row of spaces, or has nothing parked on the passenger side so I can open the door fully to let mum get out.

For her, it’s not an issue of how far she can walk, it’s how easily she can get in and out of the car so she is happy for me to park further away from the store entrance if it means she can get out easily. I know there are plenty of people who have no qualms about parking in spaces they’re not entitled to use, and I do my best to not be one of them because, well, one day I might be the person who needs that spot.

Sorry, to bump, [but…](http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/08/12/florida-cop-investigated-after-challenging-veteran-over-use-disabled-parking/?intcmp=hplnws)

I think the police chief did the right thing in suspending this officer.
