The buses can be a little scary depending on the neighborhood that they pass through. He probably won’t need to worry about that though. I think I only took a bus once in 5 years of living there. The combination of walking, streetcar, and cab should be enough to get anywhere cheaply and safely.
I went and read over those same reviews on TripAdvisor.com … ouch! I didn’t think New Orleans had any places that bad.
That hotel will be out of business --or under new ownership – within a year. Even in the 'hood, that won’t fly.
Anything different that happens during Mardi Gras? Any hotels that you recommend above the rest? Some friends and I are going next year and we are thinking of getting a room a few blocks away from the French Quarter, although we are still working out the details on which hotel we are staying at.
