Why is it always a big surprise to so many people, that the audience at the Oscars holds their applause until the end of the memorial reel? That’s been a **rule** for twenty years or more. Yet, every time, people say or post “I’m glad they held their applause until the end…How does everyone know to hold their applause?.._This year_, no one applauded until the end; I’m so glad they _finally started_ doing that.” Gah. It is not. a new. thing.

I was mostly paying attention to the Oscars tonight. I didn’t even realize the show was tonight until I saw an update on Twitter that Downey jr had won for best supporting actor. So I tuned in and I was enjoying it, for the most part. Okay, I wasn’t really paying that much attention but it wasn’t irritating. Just as I was getting into it, my internet went all kerfucky. I thought my one of my accounts didn’t get switched over from my old card, but nope, I’m all paid up. I finally reset the router and it all came back on just in time for Kimmel to say, “good night.”

This is confusing. Plastic wrap for kitchen use is not the same as the film used for mechanical vacuum packing, which in turn is also not the same as the commercial stuff used for packaging (like the plastic film you find wrapped around palletized cartons). This is just ordinary clingy plastic wrap intended to wrap leftovers and the like going into the fridge or freezer. I buy huge rolls of it because (a) it’s better quality than most consumer stuff, (b) it’s cheaper, and (c) it’s more convenient because a single roll lasts many years, so running out when I need it most is not a thing.

I know there is a difference between what merch. is delivered in. That stuff is thick, stiff, and annoying to try and strip off freight when stocking coolers etc. The stuff used in the “deli” kitchen (we don’t really include a deli, but that’s what they call it.) What is used in the deli kitchen is thinner really close in thickness to quality consumer plastic wrap. However, it can be stretched over an item, wrapped, and rubbed over a warm heating element to seal it. I just wondered if that was what you were getting. It would function like quality plastic wrap and the rolls are of similar size to what you described.

I had to replace my car battery yesterday. Easy enough even if the battery costs twice what I remember them costing. But now one of my window switches doesn’t work. Is there a fuse? Did the switch get killed by a power surge? Who knows, but I’m sure it will cost me to figure it out and get it fixed.

Today’s forecast: Windy, with a northwest wind 25 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph.
Today is trash day (2x/wk) & recycle day (1x/wk); of course the neighborhood looks like shit now with all of the blown trash strewn about. Is it really that tough to bag it or hold it until next time?

Search the Internet (and YouTube) first. I had a similar issue with the passenger window on a Subaru Forester. Turns out the issue was common and easy to fix. I don’t remember exactly what the fix was, but it was something like turning to key to the run position a number of times.

I’m sick today. I’m not sure if it’s a stomach bug or ibs flare up. This is making it difficult to do what I need to for Hubster. Ugh, I had plans to tackle some big projects around the house. Grrr.

I’m pitting my dryer.
A few months back it wasn’t heating - I replaced the ignition unit
Then it wasn’t staying heated - I replaced the temp sensor and thermostat.
Yay, it stays hot!
Then the belt breaks, so I replace that
Now it gets hot, but my clothes aren’t really drying properly, they get wadded up into a ball, weird.
Oh… it’s the tensioner pulley, it’s jammed so the belt (and drum) doesn’t turn fast enough.
I replace all the pulleys, yay it really moves now!
I mean, it REALLY moves now, the drum spins so fast the clothes are plastered against the edge like a carnival ride.
Tonight, I will replace the drive pulley, it looks like the old one is worn out.
On the plus side, I’ve gotten very good at disassembling this dryer.

It’s raining today. On the plus side, I love rain and we need rain.
On the minus side, precipitation always gives me a rain headache, a stubborn, Tylenol-resistant one. And I was planning to go and buy some cheerful flowers to plant in our flower barrels today, but now I’ll have to wait on that. Too bad - I love to go to nurseries and check out all the plants.

I swear by those combinations of acetominaphin, aspirin, and caffeine—I think Excedrin Migraine is one of them. They work on rain headaches when nothing else does.

If you DO have to get a new dryer, you can defray the expense by selling the old one to a museum as the Dryer of Theseus. Should fetch a pretty penny.
