that’s the point of Archer (and humanity in Ent) he got the job because his grandfather was famous and he doesn’t know what he’s doing he rushes out into space and screws up ---

How about an anthology series set in the Star Trek universe? You could have different characters in each episode. One episode could be a cadet attends the academy, and another is an old captain’s last mission before retirement. Any episode that is particularly well received might become a series. ---

I think an Anthology series that changes episode by episode would be difficult but I would not mind a structure where each season is a different group of characters. ---
