[/QUOTE] Yes, Mel Martinez, Republican, Florida, who NPR has labeled a “moderate”, although he ran a very vicious smear campaign against Better Castor for Senate when he was elected. Apparently they _really_ wanted a minority this time around, and feel like they can pick up more hispanics this way. ---

[/QUOTE] I’m thinking this is probably a tactic by the RNC… just claim he is moderate with no proof of such. Since moderate seems to be the strange new “in” thing for Republicans, although the most moderate Republicans lost while the most conservative seem to have won. Which is sad. ---

Amusingly, Steele has no claimed that it was just a sort of “Reagan Democrats”-like thing. There’s no “for” anywhere there, and the wording and typeface is backwards to boot. ---
