I confess: I have an enduring soft spot for Bon Jovi because I luh-_uuuuuv_ed them when I was a teenager. There’s a band I would have run away from home to be a groupie for. Every fourteen-year-old fantasy I had was about Jon or Ritchie, and their big-haired, handsome faces smiled down on me from the walls of my pink bedroom. I even had a Bon Jovi Trapper-Keeper – now that’s dedication. 🙂 So I still smile when I see Bon Jovi, and I think I’ll always have a soft spot for them. If they were in concert in my town, I’d definitely go. My only complaint is that both Jon and Ritchie are aging better than I am, but I suppose I can’t hold that against them. ---

Worse. One of my cow-orkers was playing some radio station that had most of the show livecast. They did do “Livin’ on a Prayer”, FWIW. Gag. ---

Thank goodness I stood warned, and took the train home instead of shoving my way west to get a bus. Idiots. Oh, and while we’re at it—whose bright idea was it to do a military jet flyover in lower Manhattan earlier this week? Scared the bejeebers out of my friends on Wall Street. What’s next, setting off commemorative smoke bombs in front of public buildings? ---

**Eve** , remember that blackout that hit Soho and the West Village a few Saturdays ago because of that transformer fire? I was caught up in it and wandered around for a while, seeing everybody in Soho come out and sit on their stoops and getting cheap food from the restaurants, when all of a sudden two military jets came swooping overhead going towards the Brooklyn Bridge. Conversation stopped, heads craned upward, and faces got all tense. I’d been in the Bronx on 9/11 but most of these people had probably seen a lot that day, and we all remembered when the only thing in the sky was fighter jets and birds. As it happened, the fire was because of an overload, the power was restored by suppertime, and the jets were just doing a flyover at a Yankees game and were headed back to Jersey or someplace. I’m taking a class on 34th and took the East Side subway home yesterday–no way was I getting near the Square. But it was cool to stand on 42nd and 5th and hear the crowd over there. ---
