As a foreign observer, there seems to be a feeling of “if you’re not with us, you’re against us” on display here. If Trump ever has wit enough to say “if you’re not against us, you’re with us”, you may be in trouble. ---

My husbands fishing buddy from Texas spends weeks at our Lakehouse because his Latina wife is full on Trumper. He can’t stand to be, in his own home, where Fox news is on 24/7 and her spouting crap all the time. Personally I’d stay home and drive her nuts with my left views and get my own screen playing normal stuff. Loudly. I wouldn’t run. I don’t know what couples and families are supposed to do in these situations. Seems insurmountable. ---

It comes down to the most important feature of any relationship (romantic or otherwise). Communication. You can disagree politically and still get along. But it might require keeping politics out of the relationship. That means not blasting it on TV for the other spouse to hear 24 hours a day. If the wife can’t handle a compromise as simple as keeping Fox News off the TV, and can’t constrain herself to reading social media quietly or listening/watching with earbuds on a personal device, then the relationship isn’t salvageable. Likewise if the husband can’t bring up the subject to his wife, and just allows it to become a wall pushing them apart, so much so that he needs to spend entire weekends away from her. ---

I agree..but it’s so sad. They just had a big 45th wedding anniversary. He went home for 3 days. He was here at the house Sunday. We had a BBQ. The kids threw their Dad. He said it was awful at home. They don’t have children. She has some health issues so he wouldn’t just totally abandon her. I told my girls he looked _done_. Terrible what that idiot has done to folks in this country. Makes me nauseated. ---

All three of my Canadian friends routinely come to Michigan still. I was the one who expressed worry about _them._ They were not concerned.
