One category of the annual Miss Pickle Pageant was testing the distance each contestant could kick a 50-lb gherkin. 1956 winner Coozie Cumber managed a lofty 6 ft 2 3/8 inches using her custom-made Pickle Pump, a record that stands to this day (due to the contest folding in 1957).
