Agree on DEI more generally. I don’t think we should take the whole Harris=DEI hire bait, tho. ---

President Biden promised he would put a Black Woman on his ticket he did. People of other genders and races were not considered. It was a bad thing to for him to do and I still hold it against him. That said, Harris seems to be a fine candidate and might make a great president. ---

I actually also recall Biden saying he would appoint a black woman VP (and I assumed it would be Harris since she had by far the best resume among black women). But I checked it out and I was having a Mandela Effect moment: the multiple posters upthread are right. He said that about a Supreme Court pick, but he only said he was going to pick a woman VP. ---

And yeah, I do think that Biden’s phrasing on “I will pick a female running mate” was a bit clumsy, and probably did cost him some politically. Better would have been something like “I’ve narrowed it down to a short list, and the top names on that list are all women”. Make it all about the qualifications. And if “being a woman” happened to be one of those qualifications, don’t say that part out loud. ---
