A Global Body of leadership is mandatory

But how is the EU “not equal to all people”? None of your complaints about it amount to that.

Actually I said that based off the actions of the EU, my fears are that a world government would not be equal to all people. Obviously I am extrapolating a bit here as the EU is NOT a world government, but it not hard to imagine what would happen if they were. There are many things that the EU wants and is trying to do that would benefit only a precious 1-3 EU members and certainly not to benefit all people.

Since you do want a specific example of something the EU has done that is not beneficial to all, there is the continual push for higher taxes in all member states, and reduced privacy law/rights. This is for the benefit of a high tax country such as France (who has been pushing this for some time), due to individual and corporate taxes they lose from to people moving to other lower tax countries or avoid doing business in their country. This has hurt many countries that have had to raise their taxes, but it has been great for France and Germany. It is a “lowest common denominator” type philosphy in the sense that since A has a high tax, it is only fair that B should have a high tax too, otherwise it is “unfair” to A. They came to the US with the idea of a “global tax” but fortunately we smart enough to turn that down cold.

You certainly will see a homogenization of many things under a world government reducing choices which certainly can be for the good of all people.

For that matter look at the UN as well, see what a great job they have done over the years to promote member countries to conduct equal justice throughout the world. Parts of the world have always had higher importance than others, in just about every matter.

I am all for a utopian world government. I just think that I it is going to be some time before we will be there. I guess that I should state that in general, a worldwide goverment is likely to favor particular groups of people. Just look at all the pork-barrel legislation in the US.

But, how is that “not beneficial to all”? How does it “hurt” does other countries that have been pressured to raise taxes?

It hurts both the countries and their citizens due to economic losses that they are experiencing as a result of the tax hikes. Individuals lose spendable income, businesses pay much more in taxes. That it is hurting their economies is the compliant of several countries in the EU. It effects consumer purchasing, business growth, new business development, and tourism.

The ONLY countries to benefit from this are previously high tax states, and they were the ones pushing for the tax hikes for other nations. These taxes were pushed through specifically to create economic advantages for the high tax nations of France and Germany.

:dubious: Is that all purely speculative (like the businesses here in Florida pissing and moaning about what will happen to our state’s economy if the minimum-wage hike the voters approved last November is actually enforced), or are statistics available showing that the consumer purchasing, business growth, etc., of the countries in question actually have been detrimentally affected by the tax hikes?

This is not speculative, we are talking about effects that have already taken place

S.meat asked me: What would I do if the USA was the major road blocker in the formation of the environmental world body or in enforcing its decisions.

My answer: I would hope that the populace of the US would be so informed and educated about the pros and cons that they would direct the leadership of the US to what the People desire.

If they show insufficient interest then they, IMO, deserve whats ahead for them.

Sounds just like Hitler’s last words.

General data includes over 10 billion in capital flight , 19% drop in spendable consumer income, 35% drop in foreign investments. These are averages spread over approximately 20 effected countries. Some countries hope that they will be able to recoup these losses in the long term, but that is yet to be seen.

The whole purpose of the EU was orginally economic power, so that never ceases to be a focus of some of the founding countries. This is all actually quite old news and nothing new for the EU and you can find information probably in just about any major european news journel.
