I can remember when he first started here. He could answer questions in GQ about ANYTHING!~ I remember thinking, “Where did this guy come from? He knows EVERYTHING!” QED, you’ll be missed badly and remembered gladly. ---

He was one of the few posters I corresponded via e-mail with outside this board, and found myself wondering just the other day why I hadn’t heard from him in a while. Kind of like **Santo Rugger** redux. What a craptastic week this has been. I’ll turn a glass for him. Stranger ---

I can’t recall explicitly where **QED** and I interacted, but I know we were in some threads. I think the guy was a good poster and I’m saddened by this news. RIP. ---

As someone who normally spends a lot of time in GQ, reading all the great knowledge the SDMB has to offer. I saw **Q.E.D** ’s name pretty often. When I logged into Gmail to check my email tonight, and saw **iampunha** ’s status on Gmail chat… “Goodbye Q.E.D.” I ran straight to MPSIMS to see what was up… Found this sticky… and was shocked. I never interacted with **Q.E.D.** (that I remember at least), but I’ve read many of his posts in GQ. He was one of those posters that when I saw the last post field had his name on it, I would click the thread just to see what he had to say… Even if I wasn’t interested in the topic. He will be missed by many people, even people who he probably didn’t know existed. I know I will miss his posts in GQ. Rest In Peace **Q.E.D.** , you will be missed. ---

**Q.E.D.** held joint first place\* as my favourite poster on the 'dope. He was entertainingly acerbic, always interesting and frequently illuminating. I have to admit I enjoyed the various prods and pokes by other members as they always preceded an amusing response. I exchanged messages with him on a few occasions and he was always a worthwhile person to talk to. I really am upset by his passing. And now I wish I’d told him how much I enjoyed reading his work. Just last night, as I was going to bed, it occurred to me that I hadn’t seen any posts from **Q.E.D.** in a while. (I didn’t know about his suspension.) Damn! I was going to say that he was \*one of \*my favorite dopers, but in fact, I think he was my favorite. He was everything a Doper should be: extremely knowledgeable in a wide variety of areas, an excellent writer, logical, skeptical, funny, and able to give as good as he got when things heated up. Sometimes he went a little too far, but that’s part of the Doper ethic, too. Although I never met him IRL, I had a few off-board e-mail exchanges in which he showed himself to be very helpful and considerate. I’ll miss him. Do we know how he died? The obit was no help. (And surely I’m not the only one who thinks he wouldn’t have approved of that opening line?) ---
