Still mad at him for losing in 2004?

I totally understand, dude; I am too, a little, but you have to get over that. We finally got the Pubbies out of the White House; now we need to concentrate on ensuring that they never get back in again.

Eyes on the prize, my brother. Fight the power.

Not much of a rant, but i’m glad i wasn’t at work today. Our campus was locked down for about an hour after someone reported seeing a person with a rifle.

Turns out, the guy had an umbrella.

Admittedly, an umbrella is a pretty unusual accessory in San Diego county, given that we get basically no rain during the summer even in good years, and are currently in the middle of the worst drought in the state’s history.

And right near my house, the 805 freeway, as well as one of our main local surface streets, were shut down for about two hours when a guy climbed out onto the overpass and threatened to jump onto the freeway. I had to take a detour to get home from the gym, and i could see traffic backed up for miles on the freeway.

Trip Advisor printed a review my husband wrote so there’s that.

Oh god, cancer, please go fuck yourself. A friend of mine is slowly and not so slowly dying of breast cancer. I went to bring some fresh fruit and books I thought she might like. She couldn’t even find the strength to talk more than a handful of words to me. Thanks to cancer she and her kids have moved out of the nice apartment with the backyard and into the crummy apartment on the busy street with no backyard. Thanks to cancer she can’t work. Thanks to cancer her eleven year old son has to deal with a mom who he knows will probably die soon.

So I hope you’re happy cancer, you miserable, evil soulless vile thing. You are slowly squeezing the life out of one of my best friends, a woman who loves great cheese and good historical novels, puppies and intelligent conversation about contemporary non-fiction writers, a decent and kind person who loves life and now seems only able to watch from her small window.

Oh my gods! Our husbands must be twins! He’s been disabled since 1998 due to spinal cord tumors, and had brain surgery last year to remove a brain tumor, so I try to cut him some slack…but just SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!!

Do you ever get “We need to take care of [whatever]” when he clearly means “Wife needs to take care of [whatever]”? That one really gets to me. Sorry, honey, I have a full time job, and do the majority of the cooking, cleaning and laundry, and have been dealing with the fallout of your late parents’ estate, so forgive me if I haven’t gotten around to [whatever] yet! Shut up shut up shut up! :smack: And yes I know you’re in pain, and disabled, and all that, but you could make a few damn phone calls! :smack:

OK, I have been corrected about wasps nesting low and am now planning to wear leather chaps whenever I walk through a field. Good gawd, those things are terrible!

And hey, mobile parks are nice! Everyone knows everyone else, so if you put easy-to-remove caps on the tube and tell everyone that you did it because you were worried about the owners/managers getting stung…they would figure out that they could just pull the loose cap off and put their stuff in.

I don’t really have a rant today. I’ll rant for my BFF though. Yesterday, she lost power for 14 hours and her pasture flooded. She lost a lot of hay and her horses are slogging through mud in their barn area. While I still don’t know a lot about horses, I do know that hay is expensive and I do think that walking around in mud probably isn’t that good for them. At least the ground will be dried out in a couple of days.

Yup, discovered dead mouse number two this evening. Ugh. I expected it, but it still startled me and caused me to scream. I wish I wasn’t such a yutz when it comes to this sort of thing.

Oh yes. “We need to…” means I need to. The most fun is when I can see some idea percolating through his head - “we” are soon gonna have some new project, done in the most time-consuming, least logical way ever! (Last week, it was building a covered kennel for the K9 in the back section of the yard. Tony’s method involved spending hundreds of $$ that we don’t have, and many hours’ work. My version involves spending about $25 on roof panels, and using the 8’x8’ kennel that we already own, plus salvaging treated lumber from our recent porch project. It will take me and the 16-year-old about an hour. I’ll do it next week, when Tony goes to the doctor. No way am I going to attempt it while he’s home, because he’ll sit on the porch and tell me the “better” way to do it…)

OMG yes. And, as my husband is perfectly healthy and fit, I have begun to call him on it. Yes he works hard and is incredibly busy. And yes he brings in most of the money. But I do just about EVERYthing else, including care of all the animals and the property and fixing most things that break.

So the “wow, we really need to mow the lawn” comment = when are you going to mow the lawn? And brings the “Have at, you know where the mower is and it’s full of gas” answer from me. I haven’t _quite_ gotten to the verbal ‘shut up shut up shut up’ yet. 😛

I pit the Honda dealership I went to for some work on my car for trying to rip me off to the tune of $69.99 to replace my cabin filter. My cabin filter needs to be changed every 30,000 miles.

Last year I had some body work done which resulted in condensation in my car. I asked the body shop to replace my cabin filter at that time. That was 6,000 miles ago. So, it’s way way too soon to replace the filter. I told the guy at the dealership that and said no.

“Well, it’s still dirty!”

Ok, so assuming that the body shop lied and they didn’t actually replace it I know for certain it was changed at 23,000 miles, and there’s only 42,000 miles on the car right now. So again, way way to soon to change the filter.

And the worst part? An oem cabin filter costs $20 on the high end, and all you have to do is release the glove compartment and pull out a tray to replace the filter.

Rip. Off.

I don’t know what model vehicle she has, but it’s possible that “release the glove compartment” is a bit more complicated than just opening the door.

Also, it’s really weird that there’s a sort of link in your post, but not really.

It’s really not too much more complicated than that, at least on most Honda cars.

There are a couple of little stoppers or clips that prevent the glove compartment from opening the whole way. You can remove these in about two minutes, and then the glovebox will open wide, allowing you access to the filters. Changing the filters takes another three or four minutes, and then you can replace the stoppers on the glove compartment.

Here’s a [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBr5q2FJniM) showing you how to do it on a civic, and even though the guy takes his time and provides extensive explanation, the whole video is less than seven minutes long.

Maybe I’m just irrational, but I think if you’re a driver for hire and your client asks you to bring her to a pharmacy on the way, you should do it.

It’s a pity I had pain and not nausea. I kind’a wouldn’t mind having horked all over his leather seats…
