Just pumice the hell out of them after a good soak. I come from a family of cracked heel mutants. Pumicing doesn’t entirely kill it but it keeps it at a minimum.
Im a girl and I’m not having a pedicure, why would a bloke!

To keep your feet drier all day and help with the healing get some Cool Max socks. They really work, my feet stay so dry I can’t slide my toes across each other. They have them for a reasonable price at Wal-mart.
I use emory cloth to remove excess calluses. Its much more macho than pumice (you get it at a hardware store), and probably works better since its flexible.
As for moisturizing, Bag Balm works for me. And you get that at the farm supply store.
Actually, after reading a few of the previous posts as well as yours, I don’t need pumice. I know I’ve got some 220-grit sandpaper around here somewhere. . . [sub]the steel wool is in the closet if I need that, too. . .[/sub]
I’ve got tomorrow off, so I may start tonight by soaking 'em and then sanding 'em down. I’ll let you know how it works. But I tell ya, when someone said “fungus”, my ears perked up real quick. . .
Tripler
Fungus belongs on my pizza. Right next to the onions and peppers.
I would agree that the fungus isn’t causitive, but is going to prevent healing. I’ve had several guy friends that were going to greater and greater lengths (like Tripler) to heal their skin. They were starting to consider all kinds of expensive and girly treatments, but a quick treatment with an antifungal for a week allowed their own body to the the healing, no moisturizers needed.
