I’ve used those before. Great tool when you don’t have a fork lift.
I bought a cheapo hand truck some years ago and it has saved me untold back break, especially when we moved the last time and had to get rid of about 20 boxes of books. I still use it whenever we buy bulk food at Costco for our little school lunch program; it makes getting the cases from the car to the basement so much easier.
When I was working for the State Department in the military, we used to use the bigger brutes with cargo straps when moving drawer safes. Damn things weighed 500 pounds and up.
Usually I need a hand truck to move a few boxes, perhaps to the car so I can donate stuff to Goodwill Industries. So what I have is the collapsible kind sold as a folding luggage cart or hand truck. They’re available in office supply stores for under fifty bucks. Given that the OP is in an apartment, space is at a premium, and this type can be stored in a closet easily. It’s not going to help if you need to move a china cabinet or a refrigerator, but no single device will be appropriate in all circumstances. So you just need to figure out what you’re likely to move.
A hand truck. I have this one, and it’s much easier to use than the one my parents had that was adjustable. You need ratcheting straps with a hand truck, though, to secure large items.
Rarely used a dolly but years ago I picked up a hand truck at HD. IIRC it cost about $25 and it has paid for itself many times over. I’ve moved tons of heavy crap around the house, up and down stairs, helped friends schlep heavy things, etc. In terms of effort saved/cost it’s a champ.
