_ **Happy Nooner Day!!!** _ Home early today! I had an appointment with the furnace cleaning guy between 1-5 for our annual service. He was waiting in the driveway when I pulled in - Glad he didn’t just take off. So my furnace has been serviced, but someone needs to come back in the spring to do the a/c because it’s too cool and wet today. No big. One of my best birthdays was my 21st, but not for the usual reason. I got my pilot’s license that day, so it was memorable. And, no, I didn’t get plotzed to celebrate - never have been much of a drinker. The only time I’ve been truly surprised by a party was somewhere in my 30s - can’t recall the exact one. I’m a January baby, and even in Jacksonville, it’s brisk in the winter. Still, we managed to get the company condo (owned by the company my sweetie worked for) for the weekend of my birthday. It was right on the beach, and if you left the bathroom door open, you could see the ocean while sitting on the toilet. It was a classy joint!! 😃 7th floor, too, so only the seagulls could see in. Anyway, we’d gone out to eat with another couple and all our kids, then sweetie and I were going to stay at the condo and our daughter was going to spend the night with the other kids. But first, all of us were going to hang out at the condo for a while. About half an hour after arriving, the phone rang, and my sweetie and the other guy (his coworker) suddenly had to leave - problem at the mill, and since they were both engineers… So there I was, on my b-day with the guy’s wife and our combined 4 kids. About 15 minutes later, the door opens, and the guys are back with 3 other couples, and a cake! They’d arranged for our other friends to drive to the wilds of the beach just for me! 😃 So it was a fun day after all. Then there was the time I threw a surprise party for my spousal unit - at 6 in the morning. Scared the crap outta him when our friends came into the bedroom singing! But that’s another story. Doc said to go there and buy it because it’ll be cheaper. I’m back on the brand name stuff at yet another dosage level. 😛 And now I’m scheduled for an ultrasound. **boofae** , sounds like student is a momma’s boy who needs his [del]willie[/del] hand held. Here’s a birthday story: When I was about to turn six I was looking forward to my own personal kindergarten class birthday party. When the other kids had a birthday we sang happy birthday and had cupcakes (homemade, this was back in the Dark Unsafe Ages. Our playground had stuff built from old tires from construction equipment, too. Those were the days). I really wanted my Very Own Birthday Party in class. My birthday is in late January. Late January is when we get most of our North Carolina Snow Days. Guess what happened the night of January 21, 1986? I was so upset when I saw my mom put the cupcakes in the freezer. I thought I wasn’t going to get my first class birthday party. I did, but it was the next week when schools reopened. There’s a picture of me building a proper snowman after that snowstorm. It was as big as I was. That’s the only time I remember us getting that much snow. Usually my snowmen are the size of my Christmas tree this year (about twelve inches tall). Of course, this year it also snowed near my birthday. I had to watch the inauguration at home instead of with a crowd like I wanted. Let’s see where next year takes us! ---

The bathroom looks great, **Mooooooom**! Yay for no more '70s blue! **Pugs** , if that’s the same sore throat as KT and I’ve had, it’s not bad and is just minor for a few days before going away. So hopefully that’s what you’ve got and not something worse. I’m hungry! Leftover creamy turkey and wild rice casserole for dindin. Yay! ---

He was all right, but tonight at dinner his blood sugar crashed, and we’re currently testing, re-testing, and stuffing him with cookies. We have to put him to bed and then wake him up twenty minutes later so we can re-test again. Aaaargh. In general he’s doing pretty well, but his readings are a bit wonky and this is the second bedtime dinner crash in three or four days. ---

Hang in there **Li-Li.** From what I understand, it takes a bit of time to get the whole thing down. I like the new bathroom and living room\*\*, FCM.\*\* Work was long, but whatever, I survived. I’m trying to keep up with the news updates on the cop killer here. He walked in yesterday morning and basically executed four cops. They had just sat down at a local coffee shop to do some pre-shift paperwork. Between them, they had nine kids. The last cop to get shot managed to wound the shooter, and it’s supposedly a torso shot. I hope to hell it’s right in the gut and he’s suffering horribly. The whole community here is shell-shocked. Hm, I suppose I should figure out the whole dinner thing, but my son isn’t home right now. I guess he went out to apply for jobs. I hope he gets one soon; his current place of employment didn’t give him any hours; for the third week in a row.:mad: ---

Oh, yes, I know it takes a while to get everything figured out and fairly stable- I’m just having trouble visualising where the half-litre of juice and eight cookies we fed him over the course of an hour _went_. He only weighs twenty-six pounds! Ah, He’s fallen asleep. Time to go stab his finger again. Pthibbit. Maybe he has a black hole in his stomach or something. ---

No motive yet, other than they were cops, I guess. It’s been all over the national news and was even on the BBC. It’s all very sad, but I feel an increasing amount of anger as well. It’s a long story, but the guy was in prison for life while in Arkansas and Huckabee pardoned him. He’s dangerous and he’s a nutcase. I wish they’d catch him.
