A loaf of bread, a container of milk, and ...

Did those of you who remembered him as a boy remember him wearing a red hoodie? Because I think I mixed this skit up with a picture book that features a little boy taking a similar walk.

Same here!

I remember that too! I’m OLD!

What are you talking about? Everyone KNOWS it’s bread, milk and EGGS! :stuck_out_tongue:

And yes, pretty much all the Spanish I know even now comes from Sesame Street…

Eh? Stick of butter? Not really a Sesame Street kind of reference . . .

The poll should have asked for our ages. Some of us were *Howdy Doody *kids.

Not really a “keeping your breakfast down” kind of reference either…

The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats. One of my favorites.

A loaf of bread, a quart of milk, a dozen eggs, and a paper of pins. The child gets to the store and asks for a loaf of pins, a quart of eggs, a dozen milk, and a paper of bread. The storekeeper gives the correct items, the child knows he messed up asking for them, and they discuss how the storekeeper knew what was meant.

I thought it was from a teaching story about how quantities of things are labelled differently. I remember it from an early reading book.

A Book of Verses underneath the Bough,

A Jug of Wine, a Loaf of Bread–and Thou

Beside me singing in the Wilderness–

Oh, Wilderness were Paradise enow!

I’m afraid stick of butter makes me think of Last Tango in Paris.
