An article in the NY Times:

[http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/16/sports/hockey/look-up-line-would-warn-dangers-ahead-for-amateur-hockey-players.html?ref=hockey](http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/16/sports/hockey/look-up-line-would-warn-dangers-ahead-for-amateur-hockey-players.html?ref=hockey)

Essentially, there would be a wide orange line painted on the ice that would run around the boards. It would act as a “warning track” because it is against the board that most traumatic head injuries occur.

The proponents of this are not advocating rule changes. It would just be a safety measure. While I don’t see it being adopted in the NHL I can see that it might be valuable in youth and high school hockey.
