One of them told his story and how much he’d come to regret his actions, and now he has a daughter and was freaking out about how compelled he felt to educate his daughter about men. Because ‘‘men are selfish assholes who only care about one thing.’’ No, sir, Mr. Rapist. You are a selfish asshole who only cared about one thing. Quit blaming men for your personal problem. ---

“I feel like this attitude does a disservice to men who satisfy their sexual needs without being creepy assholes about it.” Like shitty cops, judges, doctors, nurses, (insert whatever profession/job here) – and, yes, I know being a dick-focused male isn’t an actual profession – I’m not concerned about disservice. If folks don’t want people having a bias or prejudice against them as a gender, then do some damn self-governing, policing and education and other remedial actions to help clean up the problems instead of (usually, at best) sitting back and whining about how unfair people are about X (more often, it’s rationalizing the behavior and suggesting if not explicitly declaring that the victim asked for it in one way or another). “Quit blaming men for your personal problem.” Well, that was Mr. Rapist’s attempt to minimize and rationalize his behavior and try to bring it into mainstream. But _he wasn’t wrong_, as a general rule. To be sure, there are exceptions. Reality denies folks the right to pretend or declare it’s a fallacy. It isn’t as though there’s no such thing as women who engage in sexual abuse and other similarly awful behavior, but no one can credibly declare as of yet that women have anything close to the inability of men to control this \*particular \*animalistic despicable behavior. ---

I should think you can do your level best to expand efforts to convince more men to _do the same as you_, and not with the goal of eliminating bias against you but simply because … it’s the right thing to do, with or without any expectation of indirect benefit to yourself or any women in your life. (As an aside, who knows how much you feel damaged or oppressed by the bias.) ---

I don’t feel damaged or oppressed at all by bias against men. I’ll leave that crazy train to kstarnes. I’m just looking for ways to make you stop these lectures so we can get back to peas. ---

I like ketchup on balogna. Cheap hot dogs are slender, low-quality balogna, so I put ketchup on them. Good dogs should be treated better. I like canned peas with butter. I don’t like frozen peas, even with lots of butter. Many recipes for Chicken Vesuvio call for peas, but when The Italian Village makes it they leave out the peas. I trust their judgement with everything else, so I assume their way is the is better. ---
