And no, I haven’t kept up with the Recluse books because he’s been recycling that storyline so long that the horse is dead, beaten, dismembered, pulverised, and nuked from orbit. A room full of second graders gives me the heebie-jeebies, and that’s before you introduce Chinese food and chopsticks into the equation. It’s not that bad, **doggio** … it probably would only take an hour or two to straighten up the living/dining, wash up the pots and pans in the sink, dust the shelves/tables/mantel, vacuum the carpets/rugs, and tidy up the bedroom. That’s just the basics, though. Someone channeling my mother would also throw in another couple of hours to reorganize the contents of the closets and the kitchen cupboards, clean and alphabetize the spice bottles, mop the floors and wash the baseboards, straighten out the storage space, de-lint the laundry room with the ShopVac, give the wood furniture a good oiling, and file away all the paperwork sitting on the desk in the study. Oh, and possibly hang up all the artwork that we’ve still got sitting around waiting for us to decide where it should go. I just really really hate housework. 😛 Thank Og we have a small house. ---

Morning. Yays, boos, etc. 'cause I read but didn’t retain. Except for horror at a roomful of 2nd graders and (separately) sleepless toddlers. Ugh. We’re a kid-free household for a reason! We went to the orchestra last night for the last in this year’s series where they talk about a piece for 1/2 the time and then perform it. This one was [Jay Greenberg](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_Greenberg)’s Fifth Symphony. He’s 17 now and was 13 when he composed it, and he was there to talk about it during that first half. He was very nervous but did a good job and the music was great. (Although, admittedly, I know nothing about “good” music… I just liked it.) I am a little disturbed by the fact that he was born _in the '90s_. I mean I know that 17 is young, but I just didn’t stop to consider until I looked at the Wiki site this morning that 17 years ago was 1992. Ugh. I feel old. ---

Had a weird train operator last night. Most TOs are barely able to croak out station names - the combined effects of poor enunciation, a poor PA system and who knows what else can turn “Montgomery” into “Monkry” and “MacArthur” into “Karthr.” Not so with this fellow. Just before the doors close, he says “Tuck it in, these doors have got to close!” At one station, he announces the next with “We’re off, faster than a herd of speeding turtles, to Nineteenth Street Station.” He’s prepared for all situations - at one station, we had to stop short of the platform because another train was still there. Once the other train left, we were cleared to approach at “walk speed” (ie: creeping) and he said “Like a gentle California breeze, we’re drifting into Concord Station.” ---

Ah. Your mother is Quasi-Daughter in disguise, **Muppet**. I get it. Does clearing the table count as significant housework? It had a lot of stuff on it. I’m thinking about cleaning my desk, but it’ll be clangy and loud, and the kidlet’s happily asleep. Obviously I shouldn’t do it. I should keep surfing and eating espresso chocolate. **gotti** , I’ve had that announcer a few times on our public transit system. It’s awesome. The best guy ever was the (clearly bored) one who decided we were on a starship, and flicked the lights on and off. ---

My doctor works fast. Too fast. Remember when I had The Baby Alien[sup]tm[/sup] (a joint cyst) removed from my right pinkie not quite 2 years ago? Well, I appear to have another one growing in the next joint down from the original. VWife had a doctor’s appointment yesterday with the PCP, and I wanted her simply to ask if I needed a new referral to the same hand surgeon since I’m an established patient and I’m wanting to go back for a new and different instance of the same problem. The doctor’s office called today to say I had a referral and appointment for Monday, when I was really wanting a yes/no answer… ---

Gordie and I went to the **DOG PARK!** He had fun, but is still up and active even after running around for an hour and a half. **Muppet** I group my spices by style(Italian, Mexican, Asian, mixes). It makes it easier for recipes. ---

I group my spices by size of the container mostly. The stuff I use most often is on the right. No rhyme or reason, but I know what’s where… mostly. **Bobbio** , I agree - So Happy It’s Thursday… too many Mondays this week. Glad tomorrow’s Firday! No idea what we’re going to do for supper - \*\*FCD \*\*doesn’t feel like eating, and I don’t know what to cook. Now’s the time to for the Supper Fairy to show up. ---

It’s always the one that’s only used in one recipe that gets shoved to the back or off to the side and it’s hard to find it but you don’t think of it ahead of time so you’re in the middle of making a complicated recipe and _can’t find the #$&_(%# spice.\* I made (homemade) mac & cheese last night, and it was gooooooooood. Tonight we’re going out with a couple from my church for Italian food. Should be good. ---

Howdy Y’all! Work week’s over! YAY!!! Ok, there’s that four hours Sattidy evenin’ I’m goin’ in but still… **BBBobbio** yes indeed, I did get the email. _Get Down On It_! HEE! I think it’s one of my cousins but it’s hard to tell since we all look alike. **Muppet** , young lady, have you finished that housework yet? :dubious: No? Well, march right in there and get started! The sooner you start the sooner you finish! Now get busy! Don’t give me that look! You want your face to freeze like that? What? I thought you wanted motivation! 😃 There is no organization to my spice cabinet. I know where everything is though. I cant’ ask anybody to hand me sump’n outta there but I can reach in and get what I want easily. I received a gentle reminder via my TAD when I got home. TAD is what I call my phone/answering machine. It stands for _T_elephone _A_nswering _D_evice. Cute ain’t it! Anywho, the Episcopal Church Wimmens are (is?) having a card benefit on Sattidy afternoon. It is reknowned for the finger food goodies served. I was ever so gently reminded that I should have at least 10 dozen cheesestraws at the church no late than noon Sattidy. The message ended with this… “Oh and just to remind you, no, macaroni & cheese is not considered a finger food food except by those under the age of four.” 😃 I keep threatenin’ to bring mac & cheese. ETA: **doggio** best to get a jump on that malaria before it flares up. Good plannin’! An ounce of gin is worth a slice or lime or sump’n like that. ---

OK…that first link is hysterical, **Bobbio**! The music is INSPIRED. I am not commenting on the separated at birth theory, however. :dubious: I’ll add you to my sig, **swampy**. Assuming I’m able to retain that thought long enough. So, will you be taking mac 'n cheese, **swampy**? You never know when there will be an oversupply of 3-year-olds in need of finger food. Yay for Nat sleeping! My home is also available for housecleaning, by the way. I just put away parts of a puzzle that have been waiting to be put together since Christmas.
