I had a long talk with techie on the phone this afternoon. there have been some things going on in chat and in the pit which have spiraled out of control. TC is a good friend of mine, and due to a combination of things, both IRL and here, she’s at a low ebb right now. She and I discussed the situation as it exists, and she’s gonna take a break from here and chat for a while. I assure you that she has the warmist feelings for almost each and every one of you. The pain in her voice as we talked about this was palitable. She just needs some time for her right now. I am absolutely sure that in a few weeks or so, she’ll be back, sunny and happy as we have come to expect. Moderators, could you please close the “I am SOOOOO XXX mad” thread in the pit? it’s gotten to the stage of picking at the scab. We all need to step back and let TC recouperate. I don’t think she want’s to be de-regestered, that was said in a moment of anger. If she feels like returning at a later time, let’s welcome her back with open arms and minds cleansed of the past two days unpleasentness. I, for one, know that this place will be poorer without her for a while, but I am more concerned that my friend get back to an even keel. ---

techchick, totally rotten things happen face to face and here as well. You did a great thing w/ Wally’s banner, and took a totally undeserved lashing for it. And it all happened when you were stressed out anyway. Plain fact, not everybody on this board–or anywhere else, for that matter–is gonna get along or relate to every other person the same way. Standing up for friends is fine and admirable. But somewhere along the line, other people will make up their own minds, based on their own experiences w/ the person. There have been plenty (too many) schisms, upsets and “choose sides” idiocies in the near and far past. Hard fact is, anyone can defend a friend, but ultimately _everyone_ is judged by their words and actions here. Can’t be faked; can’t be glossed. It doesn’t mean that _some realities_ aren’t clearer to some than others…or those realities are real. BUT it’s futile to impose your personal view onto others. Crusades mainly result in pointless pain and bloodshed. There are better ways to relate and settle things. Honestly, take a break, give yourself some slack, and look at SD again with a quieter mind, later. Wishing you the best, Veb ---
