Those dog and cat jokes were hysterical–but I’m a cruel, bitter and twisted woman. Speaking of which, I have to take Simon to the vet for a recheck in a moment. This is how I spend my half day off? Bleh. And I caved and made some brownies. Curses to the newbies, who pushed me off my attempt to lose weight (hate the word diet). ---

If I didn’t have waist-length hair, (and two cats) life would be much less full of hair in and over everything. Of course, if I cut the hair (and got rid of the cats) there would be tears and hysterics from all the Husbands. If I could just get the cats to wear little plastic space suits, and vacuum them out once a week… ---

Instead of appreciating $10k in the year we had it, based on the old assumptions from the real estate boom, it lost $3k because of the current bust. This means that the refinance we’ve been trying to do to fund the last 3 years of VunderKind’s edjumakation and the kitchen makeover will now just finance the next 2 years for Da RugRat. No kitchen. :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: The good side is that VWife has been so irrational about redoing the kitchen before she gets bioknees that this is going to be a major relief in the home stress area… ---

**mom’s** back! YAAAAAYYYY!!! 😃 I am definitely on a roll!! Day number four in PR Hades Level 1. 😛 That does it! I am NOT coming in tomorrow. When I got home last night there was half a tree on the ground in my backyard. It’s okay, though, cause it’s one we are taking down to make way for the pool. But we got some weather so the crew had to quit and there’s a 20-ft pile of branches out there. Hopefully it’ll be all gone when I get home tonite. My brother from Houston is coming for a visit tomorrow. We will have a movie marathon and cook something good. He’s a good guest. **bobbio and rosie** , those jokes!! For the love of OG! Goodness! If I look at another map, have to draw another street on a map with a mouse, play with layers on a planning map, or discuss geocoding with the World’s Stupidest Woman one more time today, I’m going to go homicidal. :: politely moves haze from the desk, so that I might pound my own head:: I’m going to go blind, and it’s not the fun way, it’s from squinting at maps on this laptop. That’s it, off to the gym. Work some stress off, AND there’s things easier on my eyes there. 😉 ---

There is an earwig in the office. I had to ask in GQ as I have never seen one before. Those are some fucking scary bugs. I’m ashamed to admit I tried to kill it once, failed, and now I don’t want to go near it again. ---

You know, there is no way I’m going to get this one transcript ever done at this rate. Every time it ends up back at the front of the queue, they pull me off it _again_ to do something rush. Today it’s more congressional [del]drivel[/del] crap. At least when they have to explain to the client why it’s a week late, it won’t be MY fault! I refuse to even _think_ about those ghastly jokes. _(Although I do confess to laughing at them…)_ What is **haze** doing on your desk, **MBG**? :dubious: And does she know she’s there? :eek: I suspect that the FairyChatPets suffered under the same difficult training regimen as JoeDawg when he’s visiting **Unca Swampy**. At least considering how often they were demanding attention (and getting it, natch) while **Alice** and I were visiting on the phone, I suspect that is highly likely. It’s a shame none of us are ever nice to our own or everyone else’s pets, isn’t it? 😃 ---

Their pincers are weak against human skin, and I don’t think they have any other defense mechanism. Also, they smell vaguely like band-aids. Hey, the more you know. 😃 ---

I thought they looked kinda cool many years ago, and I wanted to see if one would try and attack me with its pincers. It did – it was kinda cute, all riled up, tryinna go all Scorpion on me. I wanted to get a look at it up close, and in so raising it to eye level as close as I could focus, I noticed it had a kind of mild antiseptic odor, kinda like what a band-aid smells like when you peel off the backing. I found that odd enough to note. No, I wasn’t a huge bug lover or anything. Just certain bugs were kinda fascinating in their own way and earwigs were one of them. I’m still freaked out by (most) spiders (tarantulas are moderately less icky than most), house centipedes, and I have a special loathing for roaches, fruit flies, and anything that considers any part of you delicious. ---

I am unafraid of spiders and have played with tarantulas many times. I’m afraid of centipedes, think silverfish are icky, and can deal with roaches. The earwig looked a little too much like a cross between a centipede, ant, scorpion, and silverfish all at once. Between all those the only one I can deal with is an ant.
