But I should also admit that I have childhood amnesia and do not remember much of anything before second-grade and very little before the sixth. My family calls me Al. Nobody else, not even my wife, gets to call me Al (and my family only gets to do it because fighting it would be pointless). I never knew another Alex until I got to high school. Now it really sucks, because the name has become so popular that I can’t go to a mall without being yelled at by parents (“Alex, stop that right NOW!!!”) ---

Nicknames include all the standards, also **Jeffie**. You know, given the huge number of Jenns on the market – Jeffie might just be my new name. Drawbacks: Yanni (nope) Jenny Penny (yes) Gender (no) Niffer (yes) Jennifart (my sister calls me that to this day.) Jeffiner (yes) And lots more. ---
