Regardless, I think we all know the show will last two seasons at best. The second season might even be cancelled before the first is available for viewing.

> What’s wrong with reboots?

Hypothetically, nothing. In practice, most of them are substantially worse than the originals (IMO), and are just trading on viewers’ good memories of the originals to attract eyeballs.

And now that I’ve actually read more about this specific reboot, it’s going to be pretty true to the tv series and be family friendly. My tv panel will not be infected with it.

> Very meh on the original (watched a bit in syndication when nothing else was on), and not interested in the sequel series. I expect some will be outraged it isn’t like the original, nevermind that the original itself was different than the books (or that the books were at the very least edited to a political/societal agenda).

To expand on your comment about the political agenda, in 2012, The New Yorker ran [this paywalled article](https://www.newyorker.com/books/page-turner/a-libertarian-house-on-the-prairie) on how Laura Ingalls Wilder and her daughter Rose Wilder Lane were _fervent_ followers of Ayn Rand’s libertarian philosophy and edited the books to emphasize these ideas. Both women _hated_ FDR’s policies. (If you can’t read The New Yorker article, you _should_ be able to read [this piece](https://www.pbs.org/wnet/americanmasters/the-subtle-libertarian-politics-of-laura-ingalls-wilders-little-house-books/16584/) from the PBS American Masters series.)

> Well, it is Netflix and not NBC, so I can see death, hunger, pain and suffering being put front and center.

Imagine the pitch meeting: “it’s Strawberry Shortcake meets Blood Meridian!”

Is it going to be “gritty” and “dark”? I think Laura being a hitman dressed in black would be a good start.

maybe bring in aliens. or Zombies. Or…alien zombies!

Whoever is cast as Charles Ingalls needs to be required to do a remake of _I Was a Teenaged Werewolf_ first.
