This is a first for me… I have brought a new member into our little Bay Area Dopers flock! Quake in fear… the BAD’s are growing! His name is **virtee** , and (get this!) he is _from_ San Jose. Have you ever met anyone that’s actually _from_ the Bay Area? I haven’t. To make him even cooler, he lives like 2 streets from the effrevescent **Sue Duhnym**. Since he’s very well-spoken, and hella cute to boot, I’ll let him do his own introductions and all that. I trust you’ll all be gentle… So heya **virtee** , welcome aboard! ---

Thank you so much, Rasa, for the kind introduction! Props to you. After reading the Straight Dope in the Metro (San Jose’s local alternative newspaper) for many years, imagine my delight at discovering a community of warm, intelligent individuals who share a common hunger for knowledge and comraderie. Rasa was responsible for pointing out the existence of the SDMBs to me. Again, thanks, Rasa! Yes, it’s true, I am a San Jose native. However, I haven’t lived here continuously all my life. I’ve been all over the U.S. and visited several countries in the Far East. I have settled in my native city mostly as a result of my interest in all things technical. I get all jittery around cool gadgets! How cute am I, Simetra? I once had someone tell me that my dimples were “…so deep you could stir pudding in them!” I look forward to posting here and, perhaps, chatting in IRC with some of you. Ok, am I going to have to hose Sim and virtee off? Sheesh! (Heehee, teasing guys.) He does have dimples you could stir pudding in though. Not that I’ve tried… **MamaHen** has informed me that her welcome basket contains condoms and lube. Not sure what she intends on doing with them, but hey, it’s all in the name of fun I guess! …how come no one’s picked him apart for misspelling camaraderie? You people are getting soft, I tell you! And **woodstock** , anyone that will personally hand-make me a Best of Camper Van Beethoven CD is hella cute in my book. For what it’s worth, you _sound_ “hella cute”! Yeah, condolences are accepted. San Jose is pretty vanilla or, at worst, a spoiled cup of vanilla Snack Pack™ pudding cup. I would like to meet you and the other BADs sometime…wanna see if my mental image matches the personalties. The sports teams used to have names like “The Prune Pickers” (aka The P.P.s) so just having one called the “Sharks” is a huge step up in credibility. ---
