A new kind of air conditioner. Hapless hype or wildly useful?

Retro encabulators can only be temporally enhanced by a certified quantum mechanic. I didn’t know until recently that “quantum mechanic” was a legitimate occupation, but a 1950s sci-fi movie I saw last night set me straight on that. I imagine they probably wear overalls that are always spattered with quark-gluon plasma, and getting those clean is a bitch!

Someone hasn’t read enough of The Master.

The problem with quantum mechanics is you can never find one when you need them. And once you locate one, there’s no telling where he’s going to be an hour from now.

If I understand it, something like a Dyson “bladeless” fan actually has the blades in the base, and the air is forced up into the main part of the thing where it blows out. Doing some googling , some articles use the phrasing “turbine” or “propellor”, others “brushless electric motor”. Bottom line, the base sucks in air and blows it up into the top bit, and the shape of the interior of that supposedly helps suck air through it.

At first glance, the small picture of the Scamux BreezaSux looked like it might be like that - and it might well be. But it’s a fan, not an air conditioner.

It might work okay as a fan. I don’t plan to find out.

I took my car to the quantum mechanic but he said it was both running and not running at the same time

Sounds like your encabulator needed adjusting.

I used to take my car to Zeno The Mechanic.
Never finished a single job, it was always “I’m almost finished”

If you said something like that to anyone in the Subura your dead body will end up floating in the Tiber…

Oh, you didn’t say your car was a Subura. Their encabulators were worthless. Just replace them when they start to go bad.

But you might definitely know his momentum!

@DesertDog ‘s situation was very similar to mine growing up in Las Cruces NM in the 80s. Most homes had either Swamp coolers or window mounted “true” A/C units that normally worked hard to keep one room truly cool, with a bit of spillover to the surrounding area via weak convection. I did of course know people with full house A/C but that generally was the province of wealthier professionals and above - doctors, lawyers, etc.

They were helpful especially (similar to several of the above) during parts of the summer when the average humidity was in the low teens. But during the brief season of afternoon thunderstorms, they were no help at all.

When we first moved (back kinda) to Colorado in the late 90s, the place we rented didn’t have any A/C at all. So we bought one of those bigger Swamp cooler with fan units, with a 2-3 gallon capacity IIRC. It essentially kept the living room survivable, and we ended up sleeping there during the hotter months. Best of all, to make it actually semi-cool, you could put a couple of trays of ice in the water and briefly elevate the cooling while you were just trying to fall asleep.

But again, our regional climate in CO has long periods of low teens, to single digit humidity at the beginning and end of summer, with noticeably higher during the period of summer afternoon thunderstorms, which also drop the temp noticeably.

Of course, a couple decades of climate change have made the highs substantially more extreme, so HVAC for cooling is always a booming business, and heating? Well that’s ALWAYS been a booming business here, though less so recently due to the same causation.

If the product images show swirls of blue air with entrained snowflakes wafting out of the unit, you can bet it’s not a real air conditioner. Bonus points for some green leaves to show just how eco-friendly it is.

A bladeless fan? Anyway, the bottom line is, as you and others point, there is way to eject heat and it cannot cool. Point to note: Fridges heat the room they are in (unless vented outside, although I don’t any that are).

Scam. They are all scams.

@robby beat you to that link back on 08AUG2025 with post #6. But a reminder that it’s claims are a scam is worthwhile for anyone just dropping in.

Qinux has quite the portfolio. They also offer drones, tactical smartwatches, anti-barking devices for dogs, a health tracking ring, Brizac (another personal AC unit), a soundbar, binoculars, earbuds and a hidden camera detector. And of course all these are available for a limited time at a 50% discount.

I don’t know what is going on here. Headline mentions pressure washing goes handheld but the article says The Qinux JetPro Max is a multi-functional device designed to enhance productivity through advanced technology and user-friendly features…
