First of all, it’s _bated_, not baited.
Secondly, it’s a contraction of _abated_. So you’re holding your breath until the OP replies. Good luck with that.

Nothing at all. However, the phrase “bated breath” means you’re holding your breath until the referenced event comes to pass.

The Dope, fastest correct answers on the internet. For the Record if you Google [“Baited Breath”](http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22Baited+Breath%22&btnG=Google+Search) you get 401,000 answers. So google was not my friend.
