I have been a fan of YouTuber Alec at [Technology Connections](https://www.youtube.com/@TechnologyConnections) for quite some time now, and I expect more than a few of you have been, too. For those who don’t know him, he’s a 30-something young man who looks at aspects of technology he finds interesting, ranging from how pinball machines work to why heat pumps are the most efficient way to heat and cool our homes. He has made 227 videos over the last ten years, and has more than three million subscribers. He just posted a video about photovoltaic solar panels, pointing out that they are now the least expensive way to generate power. His main point is that the country and the world should be moving rapidly to an entirely solar- and wind-based energy system and addresses the mostly disingenuous arguments against that. For instance, the claim that solar farms take up too much land. If all of the land currently required _by law_ to be used to raise corn for ethanol to be added to gasoline was converted to solar farms, it would generate almost twice the electricity needed by the whole country! He makes very good points countering the most common objections. But that’s not the reason I’m posting this in P&E. Two thirds of the way through the 90-minute video, he wraps up the case for renewable energy, and even starts rolling the credits. Excellent video. I’ve been following Technology Connections for years and Alec does a great job and is always informative AND entertaining. This video is gold. Alec really shuts down solar naysayer’s favorite objections to solar energy. I considered posting about this in IMHO without political comments, but I suggest that the OP do that him/her self. ---

I’ve learned a lot from his channel. He has a couple on how to make best use of your dishwasher, and they’re fantastic. I never knew that you should run the kitchen faucet until hot water comes out before starting the dishwasher, but it makes sense. ---

I tried switching to powders. My water is so hard and rusty that even the using all of his suggestions, I found them online in other videos, I had awful residue on my glasses and plastics. I used the prerinse stuff and to no avail. I went back to the over priced pods. If I can get my hands on that powder and it works and is cheaper I’d use it. I’m a bit skeptical, but I’d give it whirl. ---

In a computer browser it is easy, on a phone, not as much.
